PfSense heeft mijn voorkeur, sinds versie 2.3 is de GUI opgefrist en het heeft een grote community. Met de rest heb ik geen ervaring. OPNsense is een fork van pfSense, dus zal ook prima werken. I’m trying to replace the netgear with pfsense sg4860 fw, but quite honestly, i might have bitten more than i can chew as a network noob. While the computer that’s connected to the pfsense appliance is quite fast now, i’m unable to replicate the setup where i can connect to the asus ap. What i have tried is the following.
I work for a Medium-sized business and we currently have a Cisco ASA. I'm 'okay' with network stuff but not an expert (I recently had to google what the difference between tagged and untagged VLANs were). I get the feeling that my partner Systems Engineer knows less than I do about Networking.
Anyways, our Cisco ASA 5100 is about to have it's license expire. I've played with PFSenses software before and I've loved it. We're not currently using the ASA to anywhere near it's potential and everytime I need to punch a hole in it for a new server, it ends up being a mess. Not to mention I'm no where near configured correctly as we have constant weird issues where one of our sites can't talk to the other.
It seems like the pfSense would be good for us as a drop in replacement for the ASA. I was wondering if anyone's played around with them before we pull the trigger or if anyone has any opinions they'd like to share.
